In addition to being specifically intended for muzzleloading, Winchester Triple Seven Primers are also softer than standard 209 Shotshell Primers. Milder primers do not press the powder charge forward, which helps to maintain constant velocities and reduce the creation of crud rings in the powder charge. These primers are subjected to extensive testing for consistency and sensitivity at temperatures and circumstances that are considerably above the standard operating range. Improved sensitivity for more positive firing in all guns is guaranteed by Winchester, as is uniformity in size and quality, as well as stability in high temperatures and humidity. These primers are not intended for use in shotshells; rather, they are intended for use in muzzleloading rifles.
